ZipUP UnderDeck® - A Perfect Way to Extend a Deck Job!

Posted on: Aug 24, 2015

Bidding on a job to install a raised deck at a single family home, condo, town-house complex, or for other multi-family housing? Here’s a great way to help your proposal stand out from the competition and also increase the value of the job: offer finishing the underside of the deck with a watertight PVC under deck drainage system like ZipUP Ceiling® and UnderDeck®.

A handy crew can turn under-utilized, often wasted space under the deck into a dry entertainment/storage area, essentially doubling the functional space. The system fits together quickly and easily, utilizing just a few pliable lightweight, waterproof and mold-resistant components including a main rail, a hurricane rail that supports the main rail, and foot-wide panels that are the visible surface of the system. The system is pitched for easy water drain-off and an optional gutter system is available. As the panels are in both 12 and 16 foot lengths, most decks will have few, if any, seams.

ZipUP Ceiling® and UnderDeck® System carries a Class A fire rating and is hurricane rated, meeting every Florida standard for static and cyclic load tests of hurricane strength winds, the most stringent in the U.S. The PVC components do not stain and hold up very well under daily exposure to high humidity and other outdoor elements. The flat, grid-free non-corrugated low maintenance ceiling, which takes up only two inches of head-room, “unzips” for easy overhead access to anything that might have fallen through the decking or access to any mechanical wiring or equivilent.

ZipUP Ceiling® and UnderDeck® is also a good choice for rain protection under soffits along covered walkways serving clubhouses, pool areas, and other common spaces at residential communities.

And indoors, the versatile ZipUP Ceiling® is an aesthetically pleasing, low life-cycle-cost aesthetically pleasing option for finishing open basement ceilings and as a replacement ceiling in basements, kitchens, laundry areas, and other spaces in a home, including those in damp locations. When evaluated against gypsum board and other comparable installations, the system offers reduced installation and life cycle costs.
